The Chevrolet Equinox is a versatile, roomy and efficient compact SUV that offers standard V6 power and several model options. The 2009 Equinox is available in four trim models: - Well-equipped entry-level LS. - Popularly equipped LT, available in two trim packages 1LT and 2LT. - Premium level LTZ. - Performance version Sport. A floor storage bin under the armrest and between the front seats provides storage for items like a purse or backpack. CDs can be stored in a CD rack located in the vertical tower that connects the center console and floor storage. As an added convenience, there are five cup holders. The center console armrest includes two cup holders that swing out of the front and two more that swing out for rear-seat passengers. Another is conveniently located in the floor storage bin. Two 12-volt outlets are also standard one in the front and one in the rear of the center console.

  • 3.4L V6 engine Standard on Equinox and provides exceptional performance, particularly when compared to many competitors with standard 4-cylinder powerplants. The 3.4L is rated at: - 185 hp @ 5200 rpm. - 210 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3800 rpm.
  • 3.6L V6 engine This high performance engine comes standard in the Equinox Sport. The 3.6L is rated at: - 264 hp @ 6500 rpm. - 250 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2300 rpm.
  • Proven engine technology The 3.4L is based on GM’s proven lineup of V6 engines. Features include aluminum cylinder heads, overhead valves, hydraulic roller valve lifters and sequential fuel injection for precise fuel delivery.
  • Outstanding fuel economy Equinox FWD and AWD models are rated at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, and the Equinox Sport is rated at 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
  • 5- and 6-speed automatic transmissions Equinox LS, LT and LTZ are equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. A 6-speed automatic is standard on Equinox Sport and includes tap-up/tap-down shifting to allow manual control of shifting. Both transmissions have close gear ratios to provide nearly seamless acceleration. Both transmissions feature adaptive learning capability to maintain smooth shift quality over time.
  • Towing capacity Equinox is rated at 3500 lbs. A factoryinstalled Class II rear receiver hitch and 4-wire connection is available.
  • Cargo-carrying capability Equinox, due to its capability to be reconfigured, provides significant interior space for carrying cargo. - Maximum cargo volume of 35.2 cu. ft. behind the second row seats. - Maximum cargo volume of 68.6 cu. ft. behind the first row with the second row seats folded down. - The front passenger seat can be folded down to allow for items up to 8' long to be carried.
  • Unibody structure Uses high-strength galvanized steel to create a rigid structure. A front perimeter hydroformed tube with a welded crossmember is designed to absorb energy in a collision. And the overall rigidity of the structure contributes to Equinox’s excellent ride and handling characteristics.
  • Independent front suspension Gas-pressurized MacPherson struts and coil springs are space efficient and provide long wheel travel to help absorb bumps.
  • Independent rear suspension Includes four links and coil springs. This vertical blade-type trailing arm design includes tuned bushings for a smooth ride with minimal impact harshness and predictable handling. The trailing arm plus three additional locating links also facilitate a low, wide load floor and maximum rear passenger space.
  • Sport-tuned suspension Is standard on Equinox Sport and lowers the ride height by 1".
  • 4-wheel disc brakes with Antilock Braking System (ABS) This standard system uses disc brakes for effective stopping performance and ABS to help drivers maintain control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery surfaces.
  • Standard StabiliTrak StabiliTrak is a sophisticated electronic stability control system that helps the driver correct oversteer and understeer conditions to keep Equinox traveling in the intended direction.
