Tweak the features on your Colorado for a ride that’s all your own.

The Chevrolet Colorado comes with five models to choose from, so you’re sure to find one that suits your needs. Take a look at the feature breakdowns below to find out which Colorado is right for you.

Base Model Colorado: The standard Colorado comes with a rear-view camera to assist with backing out of tricky spots and avoiding road hazards. It’s ready to integrate with your favorite tech, boasting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a USB port. Your base-model Chevrolet Colorado also comes equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio system, 16-inch steel wheels, and vinyl seats.

Colorado WT: In addition to the base-model features, upgrading to the Colorado WT gets you rear under seat storage (for extended-cab models, that is—the crew-cab gets a folding rear bench seat), carpeted flooring, and a six-speed automatic.

Colorado LT: When you opt for the Colorado LT, you not only get the base-model and WT features. Your Chevrolet will also come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The touchscreen increases to eight inches, you get a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, and we’ll add two more USB ports. LT drivers get all this along with a power-adjustable front passenger seat, cruise control, and cloth upholstery.

Colorado Z71: The Z71 and ZR2 are the Colorado’s off-road models, and the bonus features drive home their purpose. With the Z71, you’ll get an off-road suspension and automatic locking rear differential, and four-wheel-drive options also come with a transfer case shield. Z71 drivers get all this along with automatic climate control, leather upholstery, an EZ Lift & Lower tailgate, heated front seats, power-adjustable front passenger seat, remote start, and hill descent control.

Colorado ZR2: This is the top of the line for the Colorado—and for a good reason. Consumers who select the Colorado ZR2 can choose between the V-6 or diesel I-4 engine, and they get a more powerful off-road suspension setup that’s higher, giving additional ground clearance. ZR2 drivers will also enjoy Multimatic DSSV dampers, all-terrain tires, integrated trailer brake control, and leather upholstery that comes only in the ZR2. The ZR2 even looks different from other Colorado models, with its own front bumper, black rear bumper, and wider front fenders.

  • Safety

    2018 Chevy Colorado Safety

Your truck is all that stands between you and the road, so safety is important.

When you load your family into a vehicle, you’re trusting that brand’s craftsmanship to keep them safe as you speed down the road. With Chevrolet, you can be confident you’ve made a smart decision. Chevrolet is the only brand to win J.D. Power dependability awards for its cars, trucks, and SUVs three years running. Not to mention—the Colorado got a four-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Colorado crew-cab scored the highest possible ranking in all crashworthiness tests it was given. (It hasn’t been tested for passenger side front overlap.) For off-road safety, the ZR2 offers upgraded suspension, better departure angles, and sturdy all-terrain tires.

  • Performance

    2018 Chevy Colorado

What matters is what’s under the hood.

The Colorado is designed to allow drivers to choose between the engine and transmission options that make the most sense for them. The standard option is a 2.5-liter I-4 good for 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. Optional upgrades include a 3.6-liter V6 (which offers 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque) or a 2.8-liter turbodiesel I-4 (which offers 181 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque).

When it comes to transmission, the standard option with the base-model engine is a six-speed manual. A six-speed automatic is also available for Colorado drivers who prefer it, and the automatic is the only transmission offered with diesel-powered Colorados. Those who choose the V-6 engine get an eight-speed automatic transmission designed by GM itself.

Whichever transmission you end up selecting, you’ll enjoy an EPA fuel economy rating of 20/26 mpg city/highway for all rear-drive models. Four-wheel drive models offer 19/24 mpg city/highway, or with the V-6 engine, you’ll get 18/25 mpg city/highway for the rear-wheel drive or 17/24 mpg city/highway with the four-wheel drive. Diesel-powered engines come with 22/30 mpg city/highway on rear-wheel drive models and 20/28 mpg city/highway for four-wheel drive. If you go for the ZR2 models, you’ll trade off for the lowest level of efficiency, with 19/22 mpg city/highway for the diesel engine and 16/18 mpg city/highway when you choose the V-6.
