2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD vs. 2018 Ford F-350

Life will push you down time and time again, and sometimes you just need something powerful enough to push back. Vehicles of all sizes and power levels are made in order to give you the ideal efficiency you require, but only a heavy-duty pickup truck was destined to take on the heavy loads that nothing else can or will. There are plenty of respectably muscular pickup trucks on today’s market, but two that clearly define themselves as the best and brightest in the nation, and the world, are the 2018 Silverado 3500HD vs. 2018 Ford F-350.

The Chevrolet Silverado was one of the very first trucks to take on Ford’s F-series head on and without hesitation. Although many other competitors have attempted to stand their ground in the ring, only the Chevrolet Silverado has come out still looking as clean and commanding as when it went in. This rivalry has been many years in the making, and the heat is not dying down any time soon.

Out of all Chevrolet and Ford trucks, the 2018 Silverado 3500HD and the 2018 Ford F-350 are considered the beasts among beasts. The burden they can handle is nearly beyond human understanding for a civilian pickup, which is why only the biggest, boldest, and most confident drivers will find their ideal match with these two powerhouses. Which one has the better options though? Well, they are both fighters, and the stats of the F-350 are impressive to look at, but if something more admirably down-to-earth in design, and manufactured with a hardworking soul that never lets you down is your style, then the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is your mate.

Technology

Just because a truck is tough doesn’t mean it can’t also be smart. Both the 2018 Silverado 3500HD and 2018 Ford F-350 offers their own unique set of tech features for both safety and fun.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 offers its own unique infotainment system with Chevrolet MyLink. MyLink is smartphone-friendly and will allow you to connect conveniently with your Apple or Android phones. Make calls, receive texts, or vice versa without lifting a finger and even taking your eyes off the road. You can even access all favorite applications such as maps and Pandora so you will never get lost or bored during your daily community or next epic journey. You will also get a standard USB port for charging while on the go, so a dead phone is never an issue.
Being such a large truck, safety is essential for the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. Chevrolet as a manufacturer designs their products with a three-part philosophy: prevent, protect, and respond when it comes to all of their vehicles big and small. To prevent accidents, you will be offered such tools as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Safety Alert Driver Seat, and Front and Rear Park Assist which will give you full awareness of the world around you. To protect you from the unavoidable, you will be offered ABS brakes with Duralife rotors, 6 available airbags, and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System. Lately, there are just some things that even the most advanced systems can’t stop, and for this, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD offers an OnStar Safety and Security plan with automatic crash response.

2018 Ford F-350

The 2018 Ford F-350 offers an optional Sync3 infotainment system that is both user-friendly and packed with features that are both fun and convenient. Sync3 includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that will allow you to make calls and texts without allowing your eyes to wander anywhere but the road ahead.
A super duty truck needs some super duty protection. Honestly, the 2018 Ford F-350 does focus more on performance than safety, but it still refuses to risk anyone’s safety by at least offering all the latest tech. You will get the standard airbags, but the active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, collision warning, and park assist will come at a cost to your wallet.

Design

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and the 2018 Ford F-350 are not only powerful in performance but just as powerful in design. The designs of these two trucks offer a sense of boldness that can’t be overlooked as they command the streets. The being said, the true difference comes in how they present that boldness.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is one of the most well-designed pickup trucks of all time. It truly captures the essence of every single one of the proud and hardworking people of our nation that do the work they must day in and day out without complaint. The exterior proves that a simplistic design can be the perfect direction to go when combined with a select few bold features to really give it that commanding pickup truck presence. The 2018 Silverado 3500 doesn’t need to be flashy, it just needs to be tough and prove to you it can get the job done, and that is exactly what its design says.
With three cabin options that pair with two bed options, you will always be able to choose exactly the configuration that suits your lifestyle. Whether you need more room, more power, or just more of everything, the 2018 Silverado 3500HD is generous with its configuration options and will always work with you to match your needs.
The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is humble, straightforward, generous, and hardworking in design and soul, and nothing makes it more appealing.

2018 Ford F-350

Just as you would expect to from any Ford truck, the 2018 Ford F-350 is more beast than machine when it comes to design. Everything about it screams tough and muscular, and while that is appealing to plenty of truck enthusiasts, it can come off as somewhat obnoxious when compared to the bold yet simplistically designed Silverado 3500. Just because a truck is tough doesn’t mean it has to look like it’s about to run over every other vehicle on the street. Even the cabin is also all about giving off a tough presence with its straightforward design that lacks any compromise. Additionally, the F-350 just appears very one-dimensional in design and performance.
Speaking of cabins, the 2018 Ford F-350 also offers three cabin types and two bed types for your configuration convenience. The naming of the mid-size cabin though is just as obnoxious as the overall exterior design though. What the Silverado 3500 simple calls a double cab as to not outshine the bigger Crew Cab, the F-350 calls it a SuperCab. Honestly, the design is not where the F-350 shines unless brashly bold is the only flavor you enjoy.

Performance

Nothing commands the streets better than a pickup truck with a whole lot of towing potential and a roaring engine. The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and the Ford-350 are the opposite of pushovers offering their own unique lineup of impressive engines.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD offers an impressive lineup of three commanding engines that only get more impressive the more you learn about them. The standard Vortec 6.0L V8 engine offers 360 hp, and 380 lb-ft of torque offers variable valve timing (VVT) for optimization and Flex Fuel E85 capability for convenience. The 6.0L V8 also comes in a model that is capable of handling both gasoline and CNG/LPG, with the same hp and torque performance. These engines are paired with a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission. Finally, there is the 2018 Duramax 6.6L Turbo-diesel V8 engine with 455hp and 910 lb-ft of torque that’s comes paired with a six-speed Allison automatic transmission that shines bright and tows tough.
Speaking of towing, it is clearly important to address the 23,300 pounds of raw towing capacity that outmatches almost any other civilian pickup on the market. It can also pump out a fair 19 mpg highway if the configuration is optimized. Overall nothing about this pickup misses the mark when it comes to performance output.

2018 Ford F-350

The 2018 Ford F-350 cannot really be compared to other trucks when it comes to performance ability. Everything about its performance excels, from its engine selection to its 32,000 max towing capacity. There are really only two engine selections for the 2018 F-350. The
6.2L V8 engine with 385 hp and 430 lb0ft of torque is the standard options and one of the best gas engines in the world. This engine also offers alternative fuel options such as CNG or propane with the prep package. The upgradable engine option is the 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel engine that can pretty much make the F-350’s performance potential as limitless as your imagination with 936 lb-ft of torque and 450 hp. All engines for the F-350 are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission for easy shifting and effortless handling. Being such a large truck though, the fuel economy is not ideal at around 16 mpg highway. Overall, the 2018 Ford F-350 has incredible performance ability.
