The new 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks will be hitting the dealership’s lot late this summer (2019). The Sierra Heavy Duty comes in 8 exterior color options similar to the previous 2019 Heavy Duty trucks. We see the return of Onyx Black, Quicksilver Metallic, Red Quartz Tricoat, and both whites, including Summit White and White Frost Tricoat. With those 2019 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty colors returning, and with what we know now, there are two colors that we seem to lose; Deep Mahogany Metallic (brown), and Cardinal Red (bright red). At this moment there is no additional information around any other colors being added than these eight 2020 GMC Sierra HD Color Options. How much weight can the 2020 GMC Sierra HD tow?
The new 2020 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty will have the towing capacity to pull in excess of 30,000 lbs. A stronger, larger driveshaft and rear axle help to make this possible. GMC warns to carefully read the Owner’s Manual since the weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow. The 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8, pushing out 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque has been engineered to make this GMC Sierra HD the most powerful yet. Hey Mark! It does not look like either of those options will be available on the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD. However, the truck does include the options for Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, IntelliBeam headlamps, and the Following Distance Indicator.
Will the 2020 2500 Sierra Diesel offer the new special tailgate?
Hey Barbra, thanks for commenting! The new 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD will have the Multi-Pro Tailgate as an option on most of the trims (SLT, AT4, and the Denali).
After extensively looking up towing ratings, I can not find the rating for the AT4 2500. I’d imagine it would be lower than the standard rated towing capacity do to the “odd road” suspension; however, these numbers are important.
Hey David, thanks for taking the time to comment on our post! I tried to do a little research specifically about the AT4 2500HD towing capacity and came up with no exact answer just yet. GMC.com states that the new 2020 GMC Sierra HD has Best-In-Class available max towing up to 35,5000 LBS. This PURPOSE-BUILT TO TRAILER LIKE A PRO post on GMC.com may help you to get a little closer to what you are looking for but I would imagine that the AT4 is indeed altered slightly because of suspension is well.
I’m interested 2020 HD3500. Sierra Denali vs AT4 ? 2” lift the only difference? The 3500 will have the fancy tailgate “ option” also? Thanks George

GMC Sierra 3500HD AT4 Trim includes the 2″ lift that you refereed to and also off-road suspension with Rancho® shocks, skid plates and all-terrain tires. Exclusive black chrome exterior accents and durable, athletic interior. It also comes with it’s own style of wheel.
GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Trim comes with Signature Denali grille with high-gloss mesh and chrome inserts. Chrome vertical front recovery hooks. This trim also comes with Chrome 6″ assist steps 20″ multidimensional polished aluminum wheels (SRW models only).
