How to avoid having your vehicle broken into
As the weather gets nicer outside, it can become extremely tempting to leave the windows in your vehicle open or to leave your vehicle running while you run inside your friend’s house for two minutes. As harmless as these two things sound, it is really not a good idea to do either. Individuals walking past your vehicle can see that it has been left unattended and may be tempted to see what is inside. We have put together a brief guide below on how to avoid having your vehicle broken into. Check it out!
Four tips to help prevent your vehicle from being broken into
While these tips may not prevent your vehicle from being broken into, they should help a little. Are there are other tips you would add to this list?
Lock your doors
The best thing you can do to protect your vehicle is to make it difficult for someone to get inside. One of the ways you can do this is by keeping your doors locked. The person would have to make too much of a scene trying to get into your vehicle.
Do not leave your vehicle running
Even if you are going to be away from your vehicle for thirty seconds, do not leave your vehicle running. It is far too easy for someone to get into your vehicle and take something, or worse, drive away.
Park under a light
If you are arriving at your destination late at night, try and find a parking spot that is under a lamp of some kind. The idea is that if a person tries to get into your vehicle, they will hopefully be deterred because of being literally under the light.
Do not keep valuable items in your vehicle
Sometimes, life happens, and you have to keep your laptop or wallet in your vehicle overnight. If this does happen, make sure that it is out of sight! Put it in the trunk or under a seat so that someone walking past will not be tempted to take it.
